MAXTRAX Core Shackle – 14,000kg / 30,864lb | Ultra-High-Strength Soft Shackle for 4WD & Offroad Vehicle Recovery
Built for the Core of Every Recovery
When the ground gives way and your 4WD is stuck fast, the MAXTRAX Core Shackle is the connection point that holds it all together. Engineered as the central link in the MAXTRAX Recovery System, this premium 14,000kg (30,864lb) soft shackle delivers exceptional strength, featherlight handling, and the precision engineering serious off-road recovery demands.
Whether you're running a kinetic rope recovery, a winch recovery, or connecting to a rated recovery point, the MAXTRAX Core Shackle is designed to perform.
Why the MAXTRAX Core Shackle?
System-Engineered Strength Unlike generic soft shackles, the MAXTRAX Core Shackle is purpose-built to work within the full MAXTRAX Recovery System — tested, rated, and optimised alongside the MAXTRAX Winch Ring 120, Kinetic Rope, Static Rope, Winch Rope, and Hitch. Every component is engineered to work together for maximum reliability in real-world recovery situations.
Ultralight at Just 180g At only 180 grams, the MAXTRAX Core Shackle delivers a massive 14,000kg Minimum Breaking Strength (MBS) — an extraordinary strength-to-weight ratio that leaves heavy steel bow shackles in the dust. No rust, no sharp edges, no weight penalty.
Fail-Safe System Design Safety is engineered into the system. In the event of overload, the MAXTRAX Fuse Shackle is designed as the weakest link and expected failure point — not the Core Shackle, not your vehicle, not you. This fail-safe system approach gives you confidence every time.

How to Use the MAXTRAX Core Shackle
-
Inspect – Visually check the shackle for cuts, fraying, burns, or damage before every use. Never use a damaged shackle.
-
Open – Loosen the loop by sliding the knot, opening it enough to fit over the connection point.
-
Connect – Feed the loop through your MAXTRAX component or vehicle's rated recovery point.
-
Secure – Slide or push the knot back through the loop and pull both sides firmly to tighten. Position the knot so the loop pulls at 90 degrees.
-
Dampen – Place a MAXTRAX Recovery Dampener over the rope to manage energy in the event of a snap.
-
Ramp Up – Use MAXTRAX Recovery Tracks as a ramp to reduce load and forces on all recovery equipment.
-
Clear the area – Remove all bystanders before commencing the recovery.
-
Recover – Gently take up the slack. Increase momentum only if needed on subsequent attempts.
Care & Maintenance
Your MAXTRAX Core Shackle is built for the long haul — but like all high-performance recovery gear, it rewards proper care:
-
Inspect before every use for nicks, cuts, fraying, burns, abrasion, or melted fibres
-
Do not use if damaged or if the warning label is missing or illegible
-
Rinse with fresh water and air dry after use, especially in mud or salt-water environments
-
Store inside the MAXTRAX Recovery Kit Bag to protect from UV, moisture, and abrasion
- Replacement protective sheaths available at maxtrax.com.au
Safety You Can Count On
- MBS rating should be 2–3× the Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of the lightest vehicle in the recovery
- Never use for lifting or conventional towing
-
Strap strength is reduced when saturated — account for wet conditions
- Always drape a recovery dampener or heavy blanket over the strap during use
- All vehicle passengers must exit and stand clear — away from the line of pull — before commencing recovery
- Consider completing a nationally recognised 4WD training course for best practice recovery techniques

The MAXTRAX Difference
MAXTRAX doesn't just make recovery boards. The MAXTRAX Recovery System is a fully integrated, purpose-engineered ecosystem of recovery products — each component tested together so you know exactly how it performs when you need it most. The Core Shackle is the heart of that system.
Get unstuck. Get home. Trust MAXTRAX.
Warning: Only use MAXTRAX products within the MAXTRAX Recovery System. Third-party products have not been tested in conjunction with MAXTRAX components. Always use a MAXTRAX Fuse Shackle. Only connect to rated recovery points.
