Product Description

MAXTRAX 7000kg Fuse Shackle — The Safety Link Your Recovery System Demands

The smartest shackle in 4WD recovery. Engineered to fail first — so everything else doesn't.

When your recovery system is pushed to its limit, the MAXTRAX Fuse Shackle does exactly what it's designed to do: break before your vehicle, your rope, or your recovery point does. Built from ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene and polyester, this lightweight 120g soft shackle delivers a 7,000kg (15,432lb) minimum breaking strength — and acts as the critical weak link that protects the entire MAXTRAX Recovery System.

This isn't just a shackle. It's your insurance policy.

Why the MAXTRAX Fuse Shackle Belongs in Every Recovery Kit

  •  Mandatory safety component — required in every MAXTRAX Recovery System setup
  •  Engineered weak link — designed to fail first under overload, protecting vehicles, people, and gear
  •  Ultra-lightweight — just 120g, so there's zero excuse to leave it behind
  •  Rated to 7,000kg / 15,432lb MBS — suits most 4WD and dual-cab recovery scenarios
  •  Compatible with the full MAXTRAX ecosystem — MAXTRAX Hitch, Kinetic Rope, Static Rope, Winch Rope, and rated vehicle recovery points
  •  550mm length — optimised loop sizing for fast, secure attachment

How to Use the MAXTRAX Fuse Shackle

  1. Inspect — Visually check for cuts, fraying, burns, abrasion, or damage before every use. Do not use if damaged.
  2. Loosen — Open the loop enough to slide over the knot.
  3. Loop — Feed the loop through your MAXTRAX Hitch, Kinetic Rope, Static Rope, Winch Rope, or vehicle's rated recovery point.
  4. Secure — Slide the loop back over the knot and pull both sides to tighten. Position the knot so the loop pulls at 90° beside it.
  5. Dampen — Place your MAXTRAX Recovery Dampener over the rope and attach to the loop or shackle.
  6. Recover safely — Clear all bystanders, take up slack gently, and build momentum gradually only if needed.

Pro tip: Pair with MAXTRAX 4WD Recovery Tracks as a ramp to dramatically reduce load forces across your entire recovery system.

Care & Maintenance

Your MAXTRAX Fuse Shackle works hard — treat it accordingly.

  • Before every use: Inspect for nicks, cuts, tears, fraying, burns, and abrasion
  • After every use: Rinse with clean fresh water and air dry completely
  • Storage: Keep inside the MAXTRAX Recovery Kit Bag to protect from UV, moisture, and debris
  • Replace immediately if damaged, partially unwound, or if the warning label is no longer legible
  • Replacement sheaths available at maxtrax.com.au

Safety You Need to Know

  • Use only within the MAXTRAX Recovery System — not tested with third-party products
  • Always include a MAXTRAX Fuse Shackle in every recovery — no exceptions
  • Connect only to rated recovery points
  • Minimum breaking strength should be 2–3× the GVM of the lighter vehicle in the recovery
  • Not for lifting or conventional towing
  • Strength and stretch are reduced when saturated with water
  • Always use a recovery dampener (heavy bag or blanket) draped over the rope
  • All vehicle passengers must exit and stand well clear — never in the path of the recovering vehicle
  • Consider completing a nationally recognised 4WD training course before use
